Which nation outside the USA makes the best movies?
This poll was created to allow for the international visitors to movieEVERYday.com to sound off as to which nation they feel makes the best movies other than the USA. Here are the results...
Given the great British movies I've seen this past week. I'd have to agree that the UK is on a roll (role?)! Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont, Kinky Boots, and On a Clear Day are all three among the best films of the year so far.
80s TV Shows Turned into Movies? Filmmakers seem to be running out of ideas and turning to 1980s TV shows for material. In production already are "Hawaii Five-0", "The A-Team", "CHiPs", and "Quantum Leap". This week's poll asked you "Which 1980s tv show would you most like to see made into a major motion picture? " And here are your results with 88 votes tallied.
Looks like most people would like to see "The Greatest American Hero" become a major motion picture. In the mean time, you can order the TV series on DVD:
The Greatest American Hero: Season One [DVD] (1981) DVD
The Greatest American Hero: Season Two [DVD] (1981) DVD
The Greatest American Hero: Season Three [DVD] (1982) DVD
9/11 Movies: Two major motion pictures that use the 9/11 events as their premises are due to be released within the next six months. Oliver Stone's World Trade Center and Paul Greengrass's Flight 93. This week's poll, while certainly not scientific, showed that 100% of the people who voted felt it was still too soon for these movies to be released. Only the box office figures will determine the future fate of such films.

Summer 2006 Releases: Each summer Hollywood unveils what seems like a ton of movies. Of those major ones set for release, this week's poll asked voters to select the one to which he or she was looking forward to seeing the most.

February Blues: I have a working hypothesis that Hollywood releases the worst films of the year in February. So, this week, readers were polled to see which film released in February as the best of the bunch. And by a healthy margin, people voted that Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion was the best film of February 2006.

Post Academy Awards(R) Reactions (Part 2): This week it seemed like it would be interesting to find out if Crash was as deserving as some people thought. So, readers were asked to vote on which of he past five Best Picture winners was the most deserving. Chicago came in first place and A Beautiful Mind and Million Dollar Baby tied for last place. So, Crash fell in the middle. Draw your own conclusions if you will.

Post Academy Awards(R) Reactions (part 1): Well, a lot of people were steaming mad that Philip S. Hoffman beat out Joaquin Phoenix for Best Actor. 54% felt he was the least deserving person awarded an award that evening.
