Also Note: movieEVERYday.com is not affiliated with the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences® in any way.

*Note: movieEVERYday.com in as avid supporter of equal rights and gender balance in the art of filmmaking. Unfortunately, a terrible oversight was made this year in following the lead of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences® (with whom we have no affiliation) by offering nominations and awards in the Best Directing category without a gender split as there is in acting. This long-held paradigm difference in the directing and acting categories, we now believe has negatively contributed to the disparity in the field of directing when it comes to the acceptance of women as directors. Hence forth, the movieEVERYday.com readers awards will split the category into two: one for best directing by a man and best director by a woman. We believe this split should be done by the AMPAS® as well and have started a petition and letter writing campaign to urge them to do so. Please support these causes. Also please feel free to read more and the statistics supporting the exclusion of women from the category on this site.
