Why is it called Reservation Road?
The name of the road on which young Josh Learner (Sean Curley) is hit and killed by Dwight Arno (Mark Ruffalo) is called Reservation Road.

How does it end?
As Dwight begins to realize that he's got to turn himself in, Ethan (Joaquin Phoenix) gets closer to figuring out that Dwight is the hit and run driver. When he over hears Dwight calling for Lucas(Eddie Alderson) the night of Emma's music concert at school for which Ruth Weldon (Mira Sorvino) has been preparing her via private lessons for weeks, his brain replays the night of the accident, and he sees Dwight in the car, with the Boston Red Sox cap, driving the dark-colored SUV, and killing his son, replay in his mind. He then uses an occasion to visit Ruth, Dwight's ex-wife, to snoop around Lucas's room where he finds a photo of dad and son in front of the black SUV further convincing himself that his memory flashback is correct. He gets a hold of a pistol and heads over to Dwight's house. Dwight has just convinced Ruth to let him have Lucas for the World Series. Lucas has just gone to be, when Ethan arrives at the front door. Dwight senses that something is up, but he's Dwight's lawyer, so he opens the door. Later, he finds himself getting out of the trunk of Ethan's car in the middle of nowhere by the ocean. Obviously, Ethan plans to kill him in revenge. The two struggle, and eventually, Dwight gets a hold of the gun. He immediately turns it on himself and begs Ethan to tell him to do it. Ethan thinks long and hard, but he cannot bring himself to order the suicide. He gets back in his car and drives home. At last, he is free of his demons. Dwight sits on the rocks starring out as the calming ocean. At sunrise, he tosses the gun into the water. The last thing we see is Lucas sitting backwards to us watching the video his father made explaining why he had to go off to prison.
