Academy Award®-nominated Australian actor
Heath Ledger left this world on 22 January 2008. He will be fondly remembered at movieEVERYday.com because it was his film,
Casanova that was the very first movie ever reviewed at movieEVERYday.com. He was introduced to USA audiences in his role as Conor in the short-lived TV series "Roar" and then in his now few but powerful performances in The Patriot, Monster's Ball, and, of course, his ground-breaking role as Ennis Del Mar in
Brokeback Mountain. He had just completed work as the new Joker in the Batman Returns sequel The Dark Knight and, according to
IMDb, was in the filming stages for Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (impact on this film will no doubt be devastating). Many people may not know how hard the actor worked to hone his craft and avoid typecasting. He was also beholden to his native Australia taking a controversial role most USAers probably haven't heard of or seen in the 2006 Australian film
Candy where he portrays a young husband trying desperately to recover from a very serious heroine addiction. The incredible diversity of his talent, no doubt, along with his dimpled pure smile and curly locks will be the things he's most remembered for now as his life has come to a devastating conclusion far, far too soon. His adoring fans will have to take solace from the legacy of his many films he leaves behind.
