Spoiler Points:
• Don Cardigan (Ted Danson) gets downsized.
• Bridget Cardigan (Diane Keaton) mortified at the thought of losing her lavish home and lifestyle, gets a job as a custodian at the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank. Here, she figures out how to steal the money before it goes into the shredder feeling this to be a victimless crime.
• Her plan is to swap the pad lock off the open carts waiting for refilling. Then, in transit between filling and shredding, a cart girl, in this case Jackie Truman (Katie Holmes), will use Bridget's key to open the lock on the swapped lock, open the cart, and shove money into a trash can which Bridget will then pick up when doing her trash rounds. She will leave the original lock in a paper sack in the trash in the restroom for a shredder girl, Nina Brewster (Queen Latifah), to pick up so she can swap it back on to the correct cart.
• The plan works perfectly with no one getting suspicious except the Bank Examiner, Mr. Mandelbrot (J.C. MacKenzie) who wonders where these three employees are suddenly getting all this money.
• They have a close call one day when Bridget tosses Nina the key and it goes down the drain. Now they won't be able to unlock the cart with its proper key in the shredding room. The incident clues in a security guy, Barry (Roger Cross) who's fond of Nina. Eventually, they have to cut him in for a full share of the money.
• When the finally get caught because Mandlebrot puts all the pieces together. It's a mess for everyone because, actually, there is no proof they ever stole anything and the night before they worry they might get caught, they destroy most of the money. Everyone goes to jail under suspicion to commit a felony. The plan is that Jackie will take the fall so that Nina won't lose her children. But, before any fall, Bridget shows up with her neighbor, Bryce Arbogast (Christopher McDonald) as their new lawyer. He quickly shows the government has no case as there is no evidence they ever stole anything. Unfortunately, they did spend a bunch of money and they never paid taxes on it. So, the IRS lets them off the hook in exchange for their surrendering all assets accumulated. They are all free to go after that.
• Some time later, Bridget invites Nina and Jackie to their old hangout where they planned their crimes. They are so happy to see each other. After a bit of small talk, Bridget takes them to the basement of the bar and opens the cupboards which reveals bags and bags of money she managed to save from destruction the night the Feds came calling. They toss the money around in joy. The end.

The Katie Holmes and Queen Latifah comedy Mad Money comes out on DVD today with director's commentary and a behind-the-scenes featurette. Looks like it should be pretty funny! You can find clips and more info about the DVD here: http://madmoneymovie.com/
