Spoiler Points for the film version of Sex and the City
• Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) is back to dating Mr. Big (Chris Noth).
• Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) is living in LA and loving frequently Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis).
• Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and hubby Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler) have adopted a baby from China named Lily.
• Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) is living 'happily' with hubby Steve Brady (David Eigenberg) and their son.
• As Mr. Big and Carrie plot to move in together into an enormous penthouse, her friends worry she's getting nothing out of the deal. This prompts her to broach the subject with Big who off-handedly suggests they get married in one of the least romantic marriage proposals of all time. This sets Carrie into overdrive to plan the season's most perfect and beautiful wedding.
• In the mean time, Samantha's eyes are wandering toward a raucous neighbor whose stamina with women in his hot tub and physique keep reminding her of what's now mostly missing in her 5-year relationship with Smith. And, back in NYC, turns out that Miranda has been draining the sex life out of her marriage to the point of pushing poor fuddy duddy Steve into a one-time affair to which he honestly confesses sending her into a long-term tailspin. They separate just as Big and Carrie plan to hitch up.
• As the plans for the wedding escalate including Carrie's editor making her the cover model for the Vogue Age Issue, Mr. Big's feet start to grow cold.
• The night of the rehearsal dinner, however, after months of being ignored, Steve tries to talk to Miranda outside the dinner party. His words end up angering her further and upon returning to the party she runs in to Big and utters a remark that catalyzes Big's inability to show up at the wedding the next day leaving Carrie high and dry.
• Now jilted, Carrie and pals go on what would have been Big's and Carrie's honeymoon to Mexico. Once rejuvenated, Carrie moves on with her life by hiring a personal assistant named Louise (Jennifer Hudson), and Charlotte discovers she's actually pregnant, Miranda continues to ignore Steve, and Samantha continues to lust after her neighbor while trying to re-energize her own relationship.
• Louise falls in love with her sweetheart back home in St. Louis, Big runs into Charlotte and rushes her to the hospital to have her baby as their argument induces her water to break, Miranda and Steve get marriage counseling and test their new love with a meeting on the Brooklyn Bridge (if either shows up it's because he or she thinks their marriage can still work---both show up), and Samantha dumps Smith after it becomes all too apparent that he's never really there for her anymore sexually.
• Carrie discovers that Louise didn't delete all of Big's apology emails or physical letters, she just, as per orders, shielded them from her. When she opens them, she finds some of the world's best love letters all copied by Big. She realizes she cannot live without him and returns to their new flat to get expensive shoes she's left behind and finds herself running into Big. She's so thrilled and happy, they make up and decide to elope. Big kindly calls her friends as soon as the ceremony is over so they might join them to see the new…finally…Big wife to be.
