Spoiler for The Ending of The Rocker:
• When A.D.D. starts to get really big, the record label wants Fish (Rainn Wilson) gone. He's too old and doesn't fit with the rest of the photogenic band. The label wants to bring in a hot new young drummer as eye candy for the fans. But the band won't hear of it.
• That is until they get invited to open for Fish's old band Vesuvius at their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Fish refuses to open for Vesuvius. He won't do it. He doesn't want to face them, and he certainly doesn't want to open for them.
• Fearing he's going to lose the band and millions, the record producer concocts a story that Fish is having an affair with Teddy's mom. So horrified and disgusted, Curtis (Teddy Geiger) makes a unilateral decision which he knows will cause Fish to quit. He announces that A.D.D. is going to open for Vesuvius.
• And, of course, Fish quits the band. Shortly, thereafter, however, it is clear that there is no band without Fish.
• Matt (Josh Gad), Fish's nephew, convinces Curtis to go talk to Fish and get him back in their band. Curtis agrees and eats some humble pie. Fish is moved and agrees to come back and open with A.D.D. for Vesuvius even though it will take every ounce of control in him not to strangle his former bandmates.
• They run into Vesuvius in the tunnel under the stadium and get reacquainted amicably. Fish realizes that he's over it, and that these guys are still just jerks with their fake English accents and overblown egos.
• A.D.D. opens brilliantly with what appears to be a crowd that's come more to see them than the aging Vesuvius.
• Vesuvius comes aboard the stage to pyrotechnics and stellar heavy metal vibrations. But as their performance ensues, a technical difficulty reveals that they are lip-synching their music. The fans grow angry and boo them off the stage. Then something miraculous happens. The crowd starts chanting, "A.D.D., A.D.D., A.D.D.". Their manager tells them they cannot go back on because it would upset the label and offend Vesuvius. But, Curtis doesn't want to disappoint the fans, so the he fires the lying, cheating manager, and the band performs a victory song!
