;">Ratatouille (2007) [G] 110 minutes -- W.I.P. Scale™ Rating: $13.25
Review-lite: Writer / director Brad Bird of The Incredibles fame is the man behind Ratatouille creating a remarkably rich tale (tail?) about a rat named Remy whose ambition in life is to become a great French chef. As if that weren't sufficiently challenging for the little guy, he must do so while avoiding every human-induced calamity known to ratkind from a shotgun-toting granny to knife-wielding chefs. Curiously short of female characters and full of ominous and foreboding villains, the film should not be viewed by younger children without precautions. Older children and adults will find the film hilarious and imaginative. The technology of the animation has upstaged the Pixar geniuses' previous all-star creation, Cars quite handily. Standouts among the voice cast included Patton Oswalt as Remy, Peter O'Toole as Anton Ego the nasty French food critic, Lou Romano as Remy's human marionette, Linguini, and Janeane Garofalo as Collete. Sicko (2007) [PG-13] -- W.I.P. Scale™ Rating: $13.50
Review-lite: Honestly, you'll leave the theatre feeling sick to your stomach. Hopefully, you are not one of the 53,000,000 people without health coverage in the United States, or you're out of luck. Well, turns out, you might be out of luck even if you have insurance as one of the many points of controversial filmmaker, Michael Moore discovered doing the research for his latest scathe-fest SiCKO. Be prepared to leave the film angry. Be prepared to ask yourself one simple question: Why do we fight to preserve free K-12 education in the form of public schools, but have no regard for free health care for all children? This is not an easy question to reconcile especially when our similarly civilized and democratic nations of Canada, France, Japan, and Great Britain, have all successfully implemented free, universal, nationalized health care long before us. Time for Congress to eat some humble pie. (click for full details and complete review)

Movie Review of I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007) [PG-13] 110 minutes -- W.I.P. Scale™ Rating: $8.00
Review-lite: Contrived and ill-conceived with humor rooted in the worst kind human nature can deliver—that based on stereotypes--sadly despite ok performances by leads Kevin James and Adam Sandler as Larry and Chuck respectively, this film wastes the talents of nearly everyone involved. It's too bad that nobody noticed that this film was on a collision course with a negative destiny in time to salvage something good from it. Instead it leaves one feeling cheated and wishing Chuck and Larry had gotten cold feet at the altar. (click for full details and complete review)
