Hmm, spoiling The Comebacks is difficult as it pretty much spoils itself like an opened bottle of milk shoved to the back of the refrigerator and forgotten for six months.

The film is supposed to be a spoof of the greatest sports movies ever made. Which could have been an amazing film and hilarious. Unfortunately, not even the Wayans brothers could have livened up this dreadful film.

Is that spoiled enough for you?

No? What do you want then? You want to know how it ends? Well ok, but then somebody explain how this is a spoof. Deal? Deal!

So, the film is called The Comebacks. Does that give it away? Well, in a normal sports movie, what happens in nearly 99% of the films from Hoosiers to the Bad News Bears? The underdog, hapless team comes from behind and wins. People love this story and can watch if over and over and over again. Well guess what? In The Comebacks, the underdog, hapless team comes from behind and wins. Instead of beating a world class team, however, they beat a team of hardened criminals from a prison team. Oh yeah! Now we're talking major 'spoofery' aren't we. Oh, and more, the butter fingers quarter back, Lance Truman (Matthew Lawrence) gets over his problem with dropping the ball in all his big games. Wow, look out, that's a spoof. Was this film considered a spoof because the characters all have 'spoofy' names like Coach Lambeau Fields (David Koechner), or Jizminder Featherfoot (Noureen DeWulf), or Jorge Juanson (Jesse Garcia) or IPod (Jermaine Williams)? Tell me what you thought was so spoofy about this film?
