Probably few could have foreseen that when Malaysian-born director James Wan sprung his first Saw film, that it would spawn 3 sequels, but it has. Some people even consider the Saw films more appropriate for Halloween than the Halloween franchise--note that 2007's Rob Zombie Halloween interpretation was released in late August (perhaps the producers did not wish to compete with the highly successful Saw films).
