Spoiler Points:
• Durell's (Ice Cube) ex-wife threatens to move to Atlanta taking their son with her, if he doesn't start helping with more child support. She also needs $17K to pay for a new salon, and expects him to come up with that kind of money on the spot.
• As Durell and his life-long, obnoxious friend LeeJohn (Tracy Morgan), both needing large sums of money, decide to knock off the local church. When they are attempting to blow off the safe door with plastic explosives in the pastor's office, the Deacon (Michael Beach) comes in and interrupts their plan. They take him hostage and try to get him to open the safe. He refuses as he knows the money is gone.
• Durell and LeeJohn end up taking the entire leadership council and the practicing choir as hostages. They brandish pistols and make threats.
• Turns out the money they are trying to steal has already been stolen.
• Over time, the hostages start to get through to them. LeeJohn gets a birthday, and Durell gets to fix the air conditioner.
• Harmony ensues when Momma T (Olivia Cole) finally steps up to Durell and turns him around with a very good speech about how he deserves to lose his son for all the bad things he's done.
• They don't steal the money, but they get caught by the police who observed someone stealing from the church and called out the SWAT Team as they try to escape when the pastor (Chi McBride) lets them go. Eventually, in court, though, there are no witnesses willing to testify in court against them except the Deacon whom they then discover is the one responsible for stealing half the church's fundraising money in the first place. He wants to build a new church in the suburbs so he's been investing in to make more money supposedly for the new church.
• Now having turned over new leaves, Durell and LeeJohn are able to be good members of the community and help in setting up long-awaited agencies like a foster care center next to the church.
