Spoiler Points for Made of Honor
• Tom (Patrick Dempsey) fools around all the time. So much so that his best friend Hannah's grandmother calls him, "The Fornicator" at her bridal shower.
• Tom fictionally invented the coffee collar used by Starbucks® and other coffee chains to protect people from the really hot coffee cups. This gives him a virtually endless supply of income.
• Hannah (Michelle Monaghan) is Tom's rock. They two spend every Sunday together eating out, having fun, and acting like a married couple. They are truly best friends.
• Hannah goes to Scotland on business for six weeks and meets Colin McMurray (Kevin McKidd) one day during a rain shower. The Duke and fairytale hero sweeps her off her feet and proposes just before she's to head home to Manhattan.
• Upon returning, Hannah asks Tom to be her Maid of Honor. He agrees reluctantly, but gets keen to the idea when (a) he realizes that he wants her after all and (b) his buddies explain it'll be easier to sabotage the wedding from within.
• Tom works to be the best Maid of Honor ever despite everyone questioning his gender sexuality and teasing him as if a guy couldn't be a Maid of Honor or help a woman pick out lingerie.
• Tom fails to win over Hannah and has to accompany her to Scotland for the wedding.
• Some cracks in Colin's armor appear when it's clear that there are traditions in Scotland that won't mesh well with Hannah's principles. Notably, she's not that keen on hunting and killing the very animals one intends to eat leater that day.
• Tom has the chance to win Hannah or, at least, embarrass Colin at the Scottish Highlands games where the winner is to win the lucky lass' hand in marriage. It all comes down to the log toss, and Tom loses because his toss lands on a spectator's car.
• A traditional traipse to a pub in town where the Bride-to-Be sells off her kisses to all the men in town who throw coins in her pot, ends with Tom and Hannah in the throes of a passionate and lasting kiss that shouldn't have happened.
• The night before the ceremony, Tom realizes he's got to have Hannah. Just as he's about to go to her room to see her and discuss the kiss, Bridesmaid Melissa (Busy Philipps) shows up at his door. She wants to reconcile their past and make up with some serious sex right now. He's uninterested in her and tries to ignore her advances. Unfortunately, she overpowers him, tosses him onto the bed and jumps on top of him before he can shut the door. This crack allows Hannah who's similarly come up to see him, to witness the encounter between Tom and Melissa. Tom bumps Melissa off and runs down to Hannah's room. She's so upset she won't let him in. She says that she needs someone who truly loves her and will always be there for her. He decides he cannot stay for the wedding and give her away. He tries to leave town.
• On the way out, his car gets stopped by a herd of sheep. He recognizes the sheep dog to be the one from the Pub. He gets out and hugs the dog telling him, "I love you," words he has no trouble saying to dogs just people.
• At that moment, he realizes he has to go back and try to stop the wedding. He mounts a horse and rides to the church where he is thrown through the door smack dab on his face.
• Hannah runs to him and tries to revive him. He comes to and says that he cannot live without her. They get up and kiss the kiss that they were always meant to have. Of course, this puts a kink in the wedding plans for Colin who is left holding the bag. His aunt, however, tells him to deck Tom which he does with a vicious right hook.
• Tom and Hannah wed on a rooftop in Manhattan against the backdrop of the summer sky.
