Spoiler Points for The X-Files: I Want to Believe
• An FBI agent is kidnapped.
• The only lead is a former priest accused of many, many counts of child abuse, who claims to be able to help investigators find victims of crimes using visions from God.
• Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) is brought in to find Fox Mulder (David Duchnovy) and bring him in to work with ASAC Dakota Whitney (Amanda Peet) in ascertaining if the Priest's visions are real and how to use them to find the missing agent. This time around, Mulder is even more skeptical than Scully, but their past history has a lot to do with explaining that.
• Turns out that the girls and many others for years and years are being abducted and killed so their body parts can be used to stop the ravenous cancer of a man. A Russian doctor who likes to experiment in the area of transplants including his crowning hope to graft a head onto a new body, has been asked to work on the boyfriend of man who works in the organ transplant transport business. Eventually, the doctor needs just one body, because his Frankenstein approach seems to be failing. There's some Freudian parts to this plot as the body parts being used to replace out parts of the boyfriend are all from women. In any case, Mulder is very suspicious of the former priest and his visions. Scully would have been too had it not been for the little boy in the Catholic hospital where she now is in residence and whom is suffering from an incurable disease. The priest (Billy Connolly) seems suspect, but turns out to be legit.
• Eventually, Scully wants out, but Mulder pursues one last lead and ends u pgetting run off the road in Scully's car. He escapes, climbs to freedom, and then walks to the compound. Sure enough he's hot on the trail. He gets there just in time to save the agent's body from becoming attached to the strange head. Dana and Skinner show up to save Mulder.
