11:59 (2006) [PG-13] -- W.I.P. Scale™ Rating: $11.00
Review-lite: Photojournalist Aaron Doherty (Raymond Andrew Bailey) suddenly finds a gap of 24 hours in his life. He literally disappears and turns up in the middle of a wheat field with no recollection of how he got there or what happened to him. Solving the mystery becomes his mission. Bailey does a good job with his role despite little experience in the profession. With some touching elements as Aaron flashes back onto his childhood, we learn a lot about what makes this guy tick. Also, there are some really good twists and turns in the plot as to always keep you guessing. (click for full details and complete review)

Bug (2007) [R] -- W.I.P. Scale™ Rating: $7.25
Review-lite: William Friedkin directs the long-delayed, Ashely Judd / Michael Shannon film Bug about a shy former military guy who invades, in the most clandestine way, the life of the ex-wife of a guy in the pen taking her down with him as he endures a complete paranoid mental breakdown believing that he is the victim of a government conspiracy to test a new form of biological weapon on him. What bugged me most about Bug was not the pointless, stupefying ending, but rather the clever marketing scheme that drew me in with such high hopes. Big mistake. If a film is not that good, better to keep the expectations low and garner the term "better than expected" rather than the alternative. Fine performances by Judd and Shannon and Harry Connick Jr. aside, this film conjured more laughter than horror. (click for full details and complete review)

Movie Review of Evening (2007) [PG-13] 117 minutes -- W.I.P. Scale™ Rating: $11.50
Review-lite: Despite great characters and an all-star cast of some of the greatest living actresses of our time, Evening, based on the novel by Susan Minot, simply doesn't translate well into film. The story doesn't hold water. Sadly, there's not much point to it. Focusing on the regret-filled live of a dying woman reunited with her two daughters at her death bed and the cast of loved ones from her past via her memories, sadly, Ann (Vanessa Redgrave / Claire Danes) has never reconciled her past with her present. She's unable to see the joy of her life through lens of all her life's mistakes. In the end, we are left dissatisfied and mystified by her inability to move on in peace with her past given the bounty of her life.(click for full details and complete review)
